Apple’s take on television industry is in news from over one year now and reports are being weighed by many sources. Finally, the rumors had been confimred by the chairman of Foxconn Terry Gou, who revealed the company is currently making preparations in collaboration with Apple to launch a new HDTV set in the market.

Update: Foxconn told TheNextWeb that Gou had “neither confirmed nor speculated about Foxconn’s involvement in the production of any product,” while its policy forbids “comment on any customers or their products.”

The news comes by way on Gou’s inaugural speech at the commencement of building at Foxconn’s new headquarters in Shanghai. According to Guo told China Daily:

“Foxconn is making preparations for iTV, Apple Inc’s rumored upcoming high-definition television, although development or manufacturing has yet to begin. iTV reportedly features an aluminum construction, Siri, and FaceTime video calling. Foxconn’s recent 50-50 joint venture factory with Sharp in Japan is one of the preparations made for the new device.”

Guo’s claim matches pretty nicely with cultofmac’s previous claim. It’s going to look like a bigger size Apple’s LED-backlit Cinema Display. It also prompted speculation that the new Foxconn-Sharp partnership would be an opportunity for both companies to produce panels for Apple’s anticipated television set, and suggested that Apple could be interested in using Sharp’s technology to produce Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) panels for its forthcoming television set. The IGZO technology will allow to produce thinner and more powerful LCDs. Sharp began to produce the IGZO displays in March, and currently there’re limited in three sizes only: 7 inches for tablets, 10 inches with 300 pixels-per-inch for high-definition notebook PCs, and 32 inches at a resolution of 3,840 by 2,160 pixels for LCD monitors.

So when will we see the Apple iTV? Earlier reports claim that the device will debut later this year, though another recent report suggests that it might not launch until 2014.

Rumors of an Apple iTV picked up last year in Steve Jobs’ biography, Steve Jobs told biographer Walter Isaacson that he had figured out how to solve the problem of an ‘integrated’ television, and he would like it to be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud. Jobs elaborated that “it will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.”
