Here you can find MacOS 10.16 supported devices list. At WWDC 2020, Apple will announce a new version of its proprietary operating system for computers and laptops, which will be called MacOS 10.16.
MacOS 10.16 is compatible with the following Macs:
- MacBook 2015 and newer;
- MacBook Air 2012 and later;
- MacBook Pro 2012 and later;
- iMac 2012 and later;
- iMac Pro 2017 and later;
- Mac Pro 2013 and later;
- Mac mini 2012 and later.
MacOS 10.16 system files will be stored separately from user files. They are protected from changes and are not afraid of interference even from an inexperienced owner. An updated Gatekeeper will be built into the operating system, which controls the security of downloaded software, regardless of whether it is downloaded via the Mac App Store. Privacy settings will also be improved, and apps are now required to ask permission to access files and folders on the desktop, in documents, and on iCloud Drive.
We’ve done some serious security work. The built-in security guard now not only scans all applications, but also provides a complete lock of the laptop in case of theft, which will not allow you to reinstall the OS, and also transmits information about the location of the device even if it is not synchronized with the Internet.
First macOS 10.16 Beta Download links will be here. MacOS 10.16 final version will be released in the fall. To update any supported device, go to System settings > Software Update.
We did not tell you about all the innovations of the new version of the operating system — we highlighted only the most noticeable at first glance. After the release of macOS 10.16 final version this fall, we will review it in detail.
