Apple unveiled the macOS Sonoma operating system at WWDC. This OS is intended to make Mac “more attractive and even more productive.”
macOS Sonoma supports video screensavers, similar to those on Apple TV, which are displayed when the computer is not in use.
Users of macOS Sonoma will be able to add widgets directly to their desktops. Additionally, some widgets will change color based on the installed wallpapers.
When an application is open on the desktop, the widgets become less prominent, receding into the background.
All iPhone widgets can be used on Mac through Continuity. Widgets on Mac are interactive, allowing users to control applications. For example, through a widget on macOS, you can start a car that is linked to an iOS app.
macOS Sonoma introduced a gaming mode that increases the power of the CPU and GPU, reduces background tasks, and enables faster operation of PlayStation and Xbox controllers.
During the presentation, the game Death Stranding was announced to be coming soon to the Mac App Store. It will utilize Metal 3.
macOS Sonoma features a new video conferencing mode called Presenter Overlay. When activated, the speaker appears in the foreground while the shared content appears in the background.
In Safari, custom user profiles have been introduced, allowing people to tailor the browser for different tasks. In this mode, all tabs, extensions, and cookies are grouped according to the profiles.
Safari blocks all trackers and removes trackers from links while in private mode.
Users can create web applications directly in Safari and add links to the system dock.
