There's actually an easier way, since Apple added the createinstallmedia application to the Installer.app in Mavericks.

Run Disk Utility and expand BaseSystem.dmg on the flash drive formatted GUID (the "Options") and Mac OS coffee (HFS +)

Does this mean copying files from BaseSystem to the flash drive that is formatted in GUID and HFS+ ?

Hi there, so I restore the base system disk image onto my USB in disk utility, copy the packages folder from the installesd disk image to the system folder in the USB, copy the basesystem chucklist to the top level of the USB and I just have to boot into the USB to install macOS Sierra, correct? Because it seems like I'm missing something in between...

I get the circle with a slash while trying to boot. I copied the packages folder from InstallESD to the install drive in /System/Installation. I also copied the BaseSystem.dmg file and BaseSystem.chunklist file to the root of the install drive. Install drive is formatted Mac OS Extended with GUID partition style.

Is it possible to obtain the installation tutorial more easy? Specifically step 5. Thank you.

Restore the OS X Base System volume to your blank USB in Disk Utility. Then you can give that partition more space on the USB after it has restored.
